Bring your family, friends and loved ones to SATURDAYS BY THE SEA.

The summer of 2025 Lunenburg Kayak Rentals & Floating Cottages will be hosting our second annual free concert series on select Saturdays from 12 - 4pm. Come visit our beautiful location that’s nestled between a tranquil fresh waterfall, a pasture of horses, and a calm salt water inlet of the Atlantic Ocean. Stock up on locally grown food from the Sunnybrook Mill Market that’s just a hundred feet from our seaside stage, or grab some lunch and drinks from the BBQ set up at the concert. Most importantly, there will be live folk music from amazing local and touring musicians.

* Bring your own lawn chairs/blanket/seating.

* There is parking and a toilet on-site.

* Our parking and concert area are wheelchair accessible, albeit a little steep in certain spots.

* There are food and drinks available for purchase at the concert or market

* Yes, we really are hosting free folk concerts all summer. These concerts are sponsored by Lunenburg Kayak Rentals & Floating Cottages along with the Sunnybrook Mill Market. You’re not obligated to buy anything, however if you’d like to leave a donation to help support our summer concert series, there will be a tip jar at the BBQ. Anything is appreciated but nothing is expected. Quite frankly, we love listening to music by the ocean in the summer. I mean, Its kinda cool right?

SUMMER 2025 PERFORMERS

MAHOGANY HOLLOW is a folk duo hailing from the Halifax, Nova Scotia. The duo weaves melodic tales that echo the spirit of the Maritimes. Formed by Tyler Cox and David Bradshaw, the duo bonded over their love for traditional folk music. Mahogany Hollow's harmonious blend of acoustic melodies and heartfelt lyrics has led them to #4 on The East Coast Top Thirty with their single "I Won't Run". With roots firmly planted in the folk tradition, their music pays homage to the rich cultural heritage of Nova Scotia while also embracing a contemporary sound that resonates with listeners of all ages.

MATELYN LEVY is an Indie-Folk musician from Hammonds Plains, Nova Scotia, Canada.  She studies Voice and Songwriting at the Berklee College of Music in Boston.  Inspired by artists such as Phoebe Bridgers, Lizzy McAlpine, Clairo, and Adrianne Lenker, Matelyn has been writing songs since she was 15 years old. Accompanied by just an acoustic guitar that she taught herself to play, Matelyn writes emotional lyrics about love, heartbreak, and the female experience.  You can find her on TikTok, Instagram, and YouTube under @matelynlevy, to follow along for upcoming projects and releases.

AUTUMN MACKAY is a 19-year-old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, known for her haunting vocals, exceptional musicianship, and profound lyrics. A passionate music writer from a young age, she has created hundreds of original songs. Born and raised in the Maritimes, Autumn’s music is deeply influenced by the unique culture and rich Folk history of Nova Scotia. Her sound blends traditional folk elements with her own contemporary touch, capturing the essence of her roots while creating a distinct, modern style. With a natural talent for storytelling, her songs resonate emotionally, drawing listeners into her world of introspective reflections and heartfelt melodies.

FACTORY GIRLS is an Appalachian folk duo that brings the warmth of a vocal firelight with songs to soothe and disturb. Their blood harmonies will chill your bones with lyrics that dance you into darkness. Despite their spooky roots, you can expect lots of light-hearted storytelling and laughter between eerie originals to leave your heart feeling full.

TED SIMMONS is a critically acclaimed, multi-award nominated singer/songwriter originally from Newfoundland, but currently calls Dartmouth, Nova Scotia home. From Blues to Country, Folk to Rock and Roll, and RandB to Contemporary Singer/Songwriter, and with influences like Muddy Waters, Townes Van Zandt, Bob Dylan, Bruce Springsteen, Tom Petty, and The Band, with powerful, poignant, pretty and sometimes politically driven lyrics Ted has created a diversity of songs that cover the spectrum of the Americana experience. His live shows range from topical social commentary, to fun and humorously ridiculous tales, to the poetry of love, loss, loneliness, and longing.

DAVID MUISE is a singer song writer originally from New Waterford, Cape Breton. In his younger years he followed his father Yogi around as he performed with the Men of the Deeps. Those types of experiences solidified David’s love and passion for songs that told stories. Since the release of his debut solo CD called “The Journey” he has been busy playing at various charity events, Jamborees, and song writers’ circles, which included playing on one of the Stan Fest stages. After returning from songwriting workshops in Nashville David is putting together a collection of original mining songs for his next full length Record "Stories from a Coal Mining Town".

FRANCESCA MAE is a folk/indie singer songwriter from the eastern shore of Nova Scotia, with roots in Germany. Her music tells stories of love, loss, friendship, and connections, delivered through emotional, soft, and deep melodies. She is weaving her experiences from a decade of traveling and connecting with people into a beautiful musical tapestry that resonates deeply with the audiences, accompanied by the acoustic guitar, ukulele, and piano.

DREW MOORES is a singer-songwriter from just down road Mahone Bay on the south shore of Nova Scotia. He has a decade of writing and recording folk music, and can can be found performing year round at local pubs and concerts. Drew is best known as a guitarist and singer for Caribou Run and Diggin’ Up Grubs. His solo music is rootsy, fun and engaging.

KATELYN DANIELLE sprang onto the Pictou County, NS music scene in 2023. With a deep appreciation for artists such as Taylor Swift, Phoebe Bridgers, Bob Dylan, and Joan Baez, Katelyn writes intelligently overthought indie folk-inspired music. Her lead single, Chemicals, from her upcoming second EP, is out now.

JORDEN CONRAD is a folk singer/songwriter and member of indie folk-rock band The Lightning Bursts. When He’s not shredding with his electrifying three-piece, he’s playing traditional folk music of the Celtic and maritime variety. Whether he’s rocking at the Public Gardens Band Stand or on the green at Ashburn Golf Club, Jorden’s classic covers are guaranteed to make you feel as nostalgic as the historically rich venues he plays at. While he enjoys traditional folk tunes and your mother’s favourite country song alive, his songwriting experience spans over 10 years. His band The Lightning Bursts just released their debut EP titled “Everything You Love and More” which they are currently promoting.

JON RAINS made his debut to the Canadian music scene in 2020, performing his authentic mix of Alt-County/Folk music at bars and restaurants local to Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia. He has since performed most everywhere between Sydney and Montreal. Late in 2022, he released a debut demo titled “High Noon” followed by “Burn Forever” and “Golden Hour” in early 2023. His songs center around themes of nostalgia, heartbreak, love and loss, as well as using lyrical imagery to paint a picture of the idylls of growing up and living in the Canadian Maritimes.

CLAIRE BRADSHAW ( Canada - UK) Claire started her first band at 15 and went on to play synths, guitar and bass for various bands in Nottingham UK, and Toronto, Canada. After a hiatus working in other creative areas, she returned to recording and releasing music in 2018. Claire released three singles and the EP 'Cairo' in 2020, followed by ‘Stories That Never Happened’ and the double album 'Five Stars' in 2022. Claire has been collaborating with home recording legend R. Stevie Moore. The two worked together in Nashville, and also remotely. Her second album 'Ephemera' followed in 2023; and the latest album 'Fragments 1' was released February 2024. A second solo EP is planned for spring 2025.

MICHAEL BASTARACHE is a Canadian artist with 8 full length albums, 4 published books of poetry & dozens of paintings in circulation both physically and online. Michael’s art in inspired by the creation of freedom and often reflects upon the beauty hidden in seemingly mundane situations. He writes about what he knows; loss, love, hope and indulgence. There’s a true passion in all of Bastarache’s storytelling and he’s got plenty of stories to tell, so watching one of his performances is always a treat. Michael has stayed involved in music since 2010 playing sporadic shows, occasionally touring and recently has founded the Saturdays By The Sea folk concert series in Lunenburg, Nova Scotia, Canada.
